It’s that first smell when you walked in to your home.
If you just moved in a new house, the natural smell of your home would probably be a mixture of paint and other building materials as your base note; building up to another note of furniture and appliance packaging. Then you started cleaning and doing the laundry leaving you with a middle note of freshness and crispness. And top that with a note of freshly brewed coffee and some breakfast. And like music, smell can take us places and different memories. Certain smell make us remind of that beach trip one summer or that rainy Sunday afternoon with family.
If you’re a candle enthusiast (lol at the term) like myself, it doesn’t end there! In one of our shopping trips, we came across this beautiful scent from dusk. Evening Rose from their Artisan Line that I am praying is a permanent line so it can be our signature scent forever! Now sitting on our entry is a reed diffuser version in hopes that family and friends will smell this first before the frying that happened in the kitchen. (update: Evening Rose is being discontinued. So what’s a girl to do? stock up!)
It’s scent is described as: Evening Rose is a romantic combination of delicate light florals and smooth Musk. Expertly combined to create an enthralling and warm fragrance, the sweet scent of fresh summer fruits adds to the sensory delight. Creating a memorable fragrance experience.
It captured both my husband and I’s attention we had to get the 3-wick candle now in our family room and the room spray too. I’m planning to bring the little spray on our trip soon so it would smell like home. lol
Grab them now while still on sale! (currently out of stock online) 😦
Another notable scent was the one pictured below from west elm. Burned it to the bottom and I’ll still be keeping it as long as it’s got its smell. I’m currently keeping it in my linen cupboard and it’s oh so good! This one is still available 🙂
I have some locally made soy wax given as gifts too and I’m saving them for spring/summer. Honeydew and lemongrass scents.
Let me know your favorite candle scents!

I don’t really have a signature scent, too much of a commitment for me. I have a reed diffuser in the toilet that was gifted to me, but I like your idea of putting one in the entry. Perhaps I’ll procure that 🙂 I used to sell essential oils by party plan – mind you, that was 20 years ago! But I still have lots still lying around, I just need to find an appropriate oil burner. But my favourite scent at the moment for house freshness is lemongrass. Makes me smile.
you got lots of choices then 🙂 and ooh lemongrass is so fresh! I’ll definitely use mine when its warmer here in Melbourne
I love the idea of a signature home scent and will have to work on the one that is just right for us.
I am an enthusiastic perfume/scents person and remember all my friends by the perfume they wear.
The most common smell in our house is lavender and orange essential oil which i burn throughout the day and i have various reed diffusers from Adairs in our bathrooms but I like the idea of a signatue scent in the home.
I will check out dusk as I always like their candles.
I am the same with people and perfume Deb haha and I just thought, a signature home scent will be a nice touch on our guests’ memory inside our homes 🙂 will have to try the mixture of lavender and orange!
